What is a sextuple in football?

Before learning about the teams that have won the sextuple, fans need to understand this special achievement.

A sextuple is when a club wins six major official trophies within the same year. Typically, these six titles include the domestic league, domestic cup, domestic super cup, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup.

This is considered one of the highest achievements a club can accomplish within a single year of competition. To achieve it, a team needs a high-quality squad, sufficient depth, an excellent coaching staff, and consistency over an extended period.

According to statistics from Xoilac TV, only a very small number of teams around the world have completed a sextuple to date, demonstrating just how difficult this milestone is.

Barcelona – The first team to complete a sextuple

When discussing the teams that have won the sextuple, Barcelona are always the first name that comes to mind.

Under the management of Pep Guardiola, Barcelona produced a legendary 2008-09 season. The Catalan club won La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the UEFA Champions League to complete a treble.

In the following part of the year, Barcelona defeated Athletic Bilbao to win the Spanish Super Cup, overcame Shakhtar Donetsk in the UEFA Super Cup, and ended 2009 by winning the FIFA Club World Cup after defeating Estudiantes.

According to Xoilac TV, Barcelona’s success came from their famous tiki-taka style of play and a squad featuring stars such as Lionel Messi, Xavi Hernández, Andrés Iniesta, Carles Puyol, and Dani Alves. This team is regarded as one of the strongest sides in the history of world football.

Bayern Munich make history in 2020

More than a decade after Barcelona, Bayern Munich became the second club to complete a sextuple.

Under manager Hansi Flick, the German side dominated every competition in 2020. They won the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal, and UEFA Champions League in highly convincing fashion. Notably, Bayern defeated Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final thanks to a single goal from Kingsley Coman.

The Bavarian club then added the remaining three trophies: the German Super Cup, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup, officially writing their name into football history.

According to Xoilac Tivi, Bayern Munich impressed with their high-speed pressing, varied attacking play, and the outstanding performances of Robert Lewandowski, Manuel Neuer, Thomas Müller, and Joshua Kimmich.

In addition to following club competitions, many fans also regularly keep up with xem truc tiep wc 2026 so they do not miss exciting matches involving stars who have played for these legendary teams.

What helps teams complete a sextuple?

Winning six trophies in the same year depends not only on squad quality but also on tactical and physical consistency.

Teams that have achieved a sextuple have all featured world-class players across every area of the pitch. In addition, they have had enough squad depth to maintain their form while competing continuously across multiple competitions.

According to the assessment of Xôi Lạc 365 experts, the most important factor is consistency. Just one poor performance or a period of declining form can almost completely close the door on a sextuple.

Teams that came very close to winning a sextuple

Besides Barcelona and Bayern Munich, several major clubs have also had opportunities to make history but were unable to complete the achievement.

• Manchester City under Pep Guardiola are a typical example. In 2023, the English club won a treble consisting of the Premier League, FA Cup, and UEFA Champions League. They then went on to win the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup. However, failing to win the Community Shield meant that Manchester City ended the year with five trophies rather than a complete sextuple.
• Inter Milan in the 2009/10 season also achieved a remarkable feat by winning Serie A, the Coppa Italia, and the UEFA Champions League under José Mourinho. However, the Milan club could not add all of the remaining trophies needed to join the group of teams that have completed a sextuple.
• In addition, Ajax Amsterdam, Real Madrid, and Liverpool have all dominated European football during different periods but were still missing one or two trophies needed to reach this historic milestone.

According to statistics from Xôi Lạc Link, maintaining top form across multiple competitions within the same year is an extremely difficult challenge, even for the world’s strongest clubs.

Why is a sextuple such a rare achievement?

A modern season lasts almost ten months and features a packed schedule. Major clubs have to compete in domestic leagues, domestic cups, the Champions League, and various other competitions. This creates increasing pressure on both physical fitness and squad depth.

In addition to sporting factors, teams also have to deal with injuries, congested schedules, and fierce competition from top opponents. A single defeat in a final or the loss of one trophy can be enough to end a sextuple dream.

According to experts from XoilacTV, completing this achievement requires not only a high-quality squad but also an excellent coaching staff, suitable tactics, and sustained determination throughout the year.

While following international competitions, many fans also regularly check lịch bóng đá pháp so they do not miss the performances of stars playing in Ligue 1 before they return to represent their national teams.

Will more teams conquer the sextuple?

Modern football is increasingly seeing teams with significant financial resources and deep squads. Clubs such as Manchester City, Real Madrid, and Paris Saint-Germain are regularly considered contenders for every trophy.

However, replicating the achievements of Barcelona and Bayern Munich remains a major challenge. Teams must maintain consistent form over a long period and can hardly afford mistakes in decisive matches.

According to Xôi Lạc 365, the gap between major clubs is becoming increasingly narrow, making it much more difficult to dominate every competition than in the past.
